Traders in Uttar Pradesh alleged they were being framed by state police resulting in obstacles to movement of goods. The Allahabad High Court pulled up UP police for false FIRs. UP Additional Chief Secretary Awanish Kumar Awasthi clarified in court that guidelines will be issued against this.
The Delhi High Court tomorrow will hear a plea by a woman who converted her religion from Hinduism to Islam alleging she and her family members constantly being targeted by state police officials & media persons.
The UP police had also named Twitter in the FIR as it failed to take down the tweets and allegedly allowed the video to go viral. The FIR was registered in the backdrop of an elderly Muslim man's claim in a video that his beard was cut off and he was forced to chant Vande Mataram and Jai Shri Ram.
The accused have been in jail since October 7 last year in another case under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295A (outraging religious feelings), 124A (sedition), 120B (conspiracy) of IPC, 17/18 of UAPA (raising funds for terrorist act) and under the IT Act.
The investigating committee found no credible witness who has come forward to say anything against the police on record. Even family members of Dubey have not come forward to put any doubtful comment on UP Police's actions.
