Delhi High Court division bench was dealing with a PIL filed by BJP leader and practising Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay alleging that the song ‘Vande Mataram’, which had played a historic part in the struggle for Indian freedom, shall be honored equally with ‘Jana-Gana-Mana’.

The PIL filed in Supreme Court seeks direction to the Centre and State Government to ensure that ‘Jana-Gana-Mana’ and ‘Vandemataram’ is played and sung in all schools, educational institutions on every working day and to frame guidelines in spirit of the Constituent Assembly Resolution dated 24.01.1950.

Twitter India's head approached Karnataka High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with the tweets about the assault of an elderly man Abdul Samad who was thrashed and forced to chant "Jai Sri Ram" and "Vande Mataram".
