New Delhi: The Central Government has asked all ministries and departments to stop printing wall calendars, desktop calendars, diaries and greeting cards in their physical forms in a bid to encourage usage of the digital format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an office memorandum issued by the Ministry of Finance said, \u201cthe Government of India has decided that there will be no further activities towards printing wall calendars, desktop calendars, diaries, festival greeting cards and similar materials by all Ministries\/ Departments\/ Autonomous Bodies and other organs of the Government”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All such activities including materials which were earlier printed in physical format shall be done digitally online, it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has also banned the printing of Coffee Table Books and appropriate use of E-Books is encouraged. It has directed, to all concerned to make efforts to adopt innovative means to use digital or online method for the all mentioned activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis issue with the approval of Secretary (Expenditure) and will come into effect immediately,\u201d said the office order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department of expenditure said the decision has been taken as \u201cthe world is increasingly moving towards adopting digital force multipliers for productivity and given the fact that using technological innovations for planning, scheduling and forecasting is known to be economical, efficient and effective\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
