{"id":123006,"date":"2020-11-02T16:32:05","date_gmt":"2020-11-02T11:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/?p=123006"},"modified":"2020-12-09T16:07:42","modified_gmt":"2020-12-09T10:37:42","slug":"centre-asks-for-6-more-weeks-from-supreme-court-to-file-status-report-in-vijay-mallyas-extradition-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/constitutional-law-news\/courts-news\/centre-asks-for-6-more-weeks-from-supreme-court-to-file-status-report-in-vijay-mallyas-extradition-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre asks for 6 more weeks from Supreme Court to file status report in Vijay Mallya\u2019s extradition case"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New Delhi (ILNS):<\/strong>\u00a0Solicitor General Tushar Mehta today sought six weeks to file a status report in liquor baron Vijay Mallya\u2019s extradition case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier the Centre had informed the court that extradition of Vijay Mallya&nbsp;was not underway due to \u201csecret proceedings\u201d in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the Centre\u2019s submission, the bench comprising Justices UU Lalit and Ashok Bhushan had taken up the matter where Mallya was scheduled to appear before the bench in a contempt of court case against him after his conviction was confirmed following a&nbsp;dismissal of his review plea&nbsp;on August 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Lalit today said that the August 31 order of the court spoke about MEA report that certain legal proceedings by contemnor is pending in the UK.
