Bar Council of India Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra has issued a statement praising the Supreme Court order on staying the Farm Laws 2020 and asked \u201cresponsible citizens” to convince farmers to suspend their protests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bar Council Chairman said, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe prudent citizens of the Country should appreciate the order of the Supreme Court in the matter of Farmers Agitation.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
Calling it a historic step, the BCI further said, \u201cThe order of the Supreme Court firstly aims air saving lives of agitating farmers, the elderly people, women, children from the harsh cold and weather condition and COVID.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe order has been passed in the background of death of elderly people, who lost their live due to prolonged agitation and severe cold and by suicide,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
it said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, it requested,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHonest, sincere and sensible citizens. Should now come forward and convince the agitating farmers to suspend their agitation till the final judgment of the Apex Court. We fail to understand as to why those who are making scandalous and contemptuous comments in media, did not appear before the Court to put across their stand.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It further said, <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis is high time when the intellectuals of the Country should break their silence in order to save the country from a potential turmoil. Everybody knows 90% of the peace-loving<\/em> farmers are not in favour of the continuance of agitation, after the stay order of Supreme Court, but, persons with vested interests are trying to fulfil their own political ambition even at the cost of de-stabilising the Country.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\nLetter-dated-13.01.2021<\/a>\n
