The Supreme Court<\/a><\/strong> bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and R. Subhash Reddy will on March 24, Wednesday, hear a plea filed by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh seeking a CBI probe into \u201ccorrupt malpractices\u201d by Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through his plea, the former Mumbai Police Commissioner has sought directions to the Central Bureau of Investigation to immediately conduct unbiased, uninfluenced, impartial and fair investigation in the various corrupt malpractices of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petitioner has submitted that before evidences are destroyed, the Apex Court should order an impartial investigation into the charges of corruption he has made against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of the Nationalist Congress Party, a part of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He has also challenged the Maharashtra government order transferring him from the post of Mumbai Police chief. He termed it illegal and arbitrary and passed by the State Government in violation of Articles 14 & 21 of the Constitution of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his writ petition filed in the Apex Court, Singh reiterated his allegations of corruption by Deshmukh, right from setting Rs 100 crore targets from bars, hotels and shops for officers, including police officer Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested by the NIA in the investigations into the Ambani bomb scare case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Singh said he wrote in detail to Chief Minister Thackeray on the lack of truth in media statements issued by Deshmukh and also messages sent to police officers bypassing him and the Commissioner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Hon\u2019ble Home Minister had been calling police officers at his official residence bypassing the petitioner and other superior officers of the Police Department to whom those respective Police Officers report to. The Hon\u2019ble Home Minster has been instructing them to carry out official assignments and collection schemes including financial transactions as per his instructions based on his expectations and targets to collect money,\u201d the petition read.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In August 2020, Singh said, Rashmi Shukla, the Commissioner, Intelligence, State Intelligence Department had brought Deshmukh\u2019s corrupt practices to the DGP\u2019s notice based on intercepting phone calls.
