{"id":166372,"date":"2021-05-14T13:07:16","date_gmt":"2021-05-14T07:37:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/?p=166372"},"modified":"2021-11-16T20:07:32","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T14:37:32","slug":"jnu-campus-covid-care-centre-oxygen-beds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/constitutional-law-news\/courts-news\/jnu-campus-covid-care-centre-oxygen-beds\/","title":{"rendered":"Delhi HC directs setting up Covid facility with oxygen beds in Jawaharlal Nehru University campus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/topic\/delhi-high-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delhi High Court<\/a><\/strong> today directed that a dedicated Covid health centre with oxygenated beds be set up inside the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The direction was given by Justice Prathiba M. Singh, on a plea by the students&#8217; union and the teachers&#8217; union at JNU, as well as two professors who teach at the University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petition sought various directions to the respondents (JNU), including a direction for setting up of Covid care facilities in the University Campus, as also a Covid response team, and certain Oxygen facilities inside the University Campus premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petition said that due to the outbreak of the second wave of Covid around the second week of April, the petitioners had written a letter to the Registrar of the Respondent University, highlighting the alarming situation on the JNU campus, seeking various steps to be taken for controlling the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thereafter, the petitioners were continuously sending letters to the Registrar of JNU, the Vice Chancellor of JNU as also the ADM\/ SDM of the concerned area, seeking immediate intervention for setting up Covid care facilities within campus in light of the massive surge of Covid-19 and the number of Covid positive cases within the JNU campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read Also:<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/cover-story-articles\/il-feature-news\/oxygen-delhi-high-court-covid19\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cBeg, Borrow, Steal but Provide Oxygen\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court ordered the registrar to take immediate action, assess the situation and give a status report.
