{"id":177805,"date":"2021-06-22T13:48:45","date_gmt":"2021-06-22T08:18:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/?p=177805"},"modified":"2021-11-16T19:30:41","modified_gmt":"2021-11-16T14:00:41","slug":"justice-bhambhani-plea-quint-the-wire-challenging-it-rules-2021-courts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/top-news-of-the-day\/news\/justice-bhambhani-plea-quint-the-wire-challenging-it-rules-2021-courts\/","title":{"rendered":"IT Rules 2021: Justice Bhambhani recuses himself from hearing plea filed by Quint, The Wire challenging new law"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/topic\/delhi-high-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Delhi High Court<\/a><\/strong> Judge, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, on Monday recused himself from hearing petitions filed by various digital media houses challenging the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (\u201cIT Rules, 2021\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A vacation bench of Justices Bhambhani and Jasmeet Singh asked the matter to be listed before another bench, of which Justice Bhambhani is not a party, next Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The instant petitions have been filed by the Foundation for Independent Journalism which is the publisher of \u2018The Wire\u2019, Quint Digital Media Limited which is the publisher of \u2018The Quint\u2019, and other media houses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Read Also:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/constitutional-law-news\/courts-news\/oxygen-concentrator-case-illegal-supply-bail-delhi-govt-courts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Oxygen concentrator case: Delhi High Court gives Delhi govt time till Friday to file status report<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The petitions allege the impugned rules to be a ruse for the State to enter and directly control the content of digital news portals.
