Former JNU student Sharjeel Imam, who has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for allegedly giving inflammatory speeches at Aligarh Muslim University and Delhi\u2019s Jamia area, has filed a petition in Delhi High Court<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sharjeel Imam, who has been accused in Delhi riots approached the Delhi High Court seeking interim bail, after the Supreme court directed accused who were slapped with sedition charges to approach designated courts for bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Delhi High Court<\/a>\u00a0 will hear his petition tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last week, India’s top court has ordered the temporary suspension of the country’s controversial sedition law, putting pressure on the government which has been accused of misusing it to stifle free speech. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Also Read:<\/strong> Seal the area, ban entry in Gyanvapi Mosque complex: Court to District Magistrate of Varanasi<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
