{"id":305284,"date":"2023-03-17T13:34:59","date_gmt":"2023-03-17T08:04:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/?p=305284"},"modified":"2023-03-17T13:35:01","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T08:05:01","slug":"acting-chief-justice-aj-desai-oath-additional-judges-of-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/constitutional-law-news\/courts-news\/acting-chief-justice-aj-desai-oath-additional-judges-of-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai of the Gujarat High Court administers oath to new Additional Judges of court"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai of the Gujarat High Court has administered oath to the newly appointed additional judges of the Gujarat High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment of five judicial officers as additional judges of the Gujarat High Court was been cleared by the Central government few days back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly appointed Additional judges  are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Susan Valentine Pinto;<\/li><li>Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar;<\/li><li>Jitendra Champaklal Doshi;<\/li><li>Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey;&nbsp;and<\/li><li>Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment was made after the\u00a0Supreme Court Collegium recommended\u00a0the same on March 2, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Supreme Court Collegium passed the resolution stating that the Gujarat High Court Collegium comprising of the then Chief Justice and two senior-most Judges unanimously made the recommendation on September 26, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution mentions that the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Gujarat had also concurred with the recommendations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As on March 1, 2023, the Gujarat High Court is functioning with 24 judges against the working strength of 52, a vacancy position of 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai of the Gujarat High Court has administered oath to the newly appointed additional judges of the Gujarat High.
