The Supreme Court of India is deciding on the guidelines to strengthen bar associations across the country<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case shall be heard by Justice Surya Kant and Justice Dipankar Datta from April 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The bench said that issuing notice for limited purpose of laying down the broad guidelines should be used for strengthening and enhancing the status and streamlining the overall functioning of Bar Associations throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The court said the above while it was hearing a case which concerned with the Madras BarAssociations elitism and policy of discrimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The matter came to fore when a lawyer was prevented from drinking water by another lawyer from the office of Madras Bar Association office premises on the ground that the former was not a member of the MBA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Counsel who represented the matter said that they had instructions to withdraw the allegations made against late Senior Advocate PH Pandian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They added that the purpose of moving the top court was to seek uniform guidelines for strengthening Bar Associations across India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
