AAP leader Raghav Chadha\u2019s plea to the Delhi High court<\/a> that a retweet cannot form the basis of a criminal defamation case\u2014filed by Union finance minister Arun Jaitley<\/a> against some AAP leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal<\/a>\u2014was dismissed on Monday (September 25).<\/p>\n

Following hearings, the high court had earlier reserved its verdict.\u00a0On Monday, the high court said that\u00a0under Section 482 of the CrPC, the court cannot go into the merit of the matter, and as such cannot find infirmity in the order of the trial court at this stage.<\/p>\n

The case was dismissed, and the matter remained in the hands of the trial court, with Chadha not off the hook in the case.<\/p>\n

The decision was announced by the single judge bench of Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.<\/p>\n
