{"id":36893,"date":"2017-10-05T18:07:47","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T12:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/?p=36893"},"modified":"2017-10-05T18:23:14","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T12:53:14","slug":"supreme-court-asks-asg-anand-to-prepare-price-chart-of-essential-meds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/top-news-of-the-day\/news\/supreme-court-asks-asg-anand-to-prepare-price-chart-of-essential-meds\/","title":{"rendered":"SC asks ASG Anand to prepare price chart of essential meds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reacting to a PIL filed by the All India Drug Action Network, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/topic\/supreme-court\">Supreme Court<\/a> bench of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.indialegallive.com\/topic\/dipak-misra\">Chief Justice Dipak Misra<\/a> and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud\u00a0on Thursday\u00a0(October 5) directed Additional Solicitor General Pinky Anand to prepare a price chart of essential medicines for Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra and present to the court.<\/p>\n<p>The PIL sought direction to bring clarity to the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) 2012 on which the Union of India sought one further opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday\u00a0senior advocate Colin Gonzalves, appearing for the petitioners, submitted to apex court: \u201cWe must have a formula regarding drugs control. Also, I agree that the NP Policy 2012\u00a0must have strict rules regarding drugs control by the pharma industry. On cost of production\u00a0and the formula of the price, I have gone through other policies and formulas on the cost of the production in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
