The Delhi High Court on Friday (August 10) directed Centre to file a counter affidavit within four weeks on a PIL challenging the prohibition of married female candidates into the Judge Advocate General (JAG) service of the Indian Army<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The PIL has originally sought a declaration that such prohibition was unconstitutional and after that a consequential prayer for issuance of a writ of mandamus was also sought.<\/p>\n

On the earlier hearings, the Centre had told the court that married men were also barred from being recruited in the army for JAG post.<\/p>\n

The court had wondered how the ability of an officer gets affected after getting married for this post.<\/p>\n
