The top court on Thursday was told that under planned expenditure not a single penny has been disbursed to the corporations from April 1; hence the workers of EDMC have gone on strike.

The counsel for South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) prayed the bench comprising Justices Madan B Lokur,
S Abdul Nazeer and Deepak Gupta to issues direction to the EDMC safai karamcharis to join their duty since there is outbreak of dengue in the city.

The bench was hearing a plea raising concern over the non-adherence of solid waste management rules in New Delhi.

The matter will be heard again tomorrow.
