The Allahabad High Court division bench of Chief Justice DB Bhosale and Justice MK Gupta, while hearing a petition by the Teachers’ Association on Wednesday (December 20) informed the Government of India that teachers who teach children from class I to 5 are required to take 6 months of primary education training.

The court also informed the government that it is important for the teachers (with B Ed degrees) who teach classes VI to VIII to undergo a bridge course.

In relation to the training of junior high school teachers, the court has directed the state government to take a decision in 8 weeks. This has to be referred to the basic education teachers’ association, if they are not satisfied.

The state government had issued an order that non-trained teachers would be terminated after March 31, 2018. This has been challenged in court.

Now the Central Government has filed an affidavit, which clarified that only primary teachers will be given special education.
