The Supreme Court was forced to adjourn hearing in all matters scheduled on Monday due to technical problems. The court will hear the matters on Thursday.

The court started its hearing at 11 am and was about to hear its suo motu matter related to ensuring the availability of essential supplies and drugs and streamlining the modalities for vaccination during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Court has constituted a 12-member National Task Force to streamline and ensure the “effective and transparent” allocation of Liquid Medical Oxygen to States and UTs and its audit.

When hearing started at 11 am, Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said to Solicitor General Tushar Mehta: “We have received your affidavit Mr Solicitor, but it was already published in Indian Express before we received it.”

SG Tushar Mehta replied: “We sent that affidavit to various states…”

At this point some technical difficulties arose and Justice L Nageswara Rao was unable to join the Virtual Court. Proceedings were halted till 11:40 am. Then Justice S. Ravindra Bhat made an announcement over video conferencing that due to some technical difficulty and because the server is down today, they are adjourning all matters to Thursday.

He said that they have received the affidavit filed by the Centre and in the meantime, the bench will read the affidavit filed by the Centre.

There were some other matters listed before the apex court bench led by Justice D.Y. Chandrachud. The Court was to hear the petition filed by lawyer Vishal Tiwari, seeking directions to the Union of India and other authorities to initiate necessary guidelines and effective steps to adhere to strict Covid-19 guidelines for the ongoing events like elections and Kumbh Mela. Now, it will be heard on Thursday along with other various important matters.
