The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the Central Government Health Services (CGHS), New Delhi to consider and decide the representation of a petition, seeking direction to the state government to open three more dispensaries in Jabalpur for Defence Department Pensioners.

The Jabalpur Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla, in view of the submission made by Assistant Solicitor General J.K. Jain, disposed of the petition on September 2.

The plea was filed as Pro Bono Publico (for the public good) in 2013, seeking a direction to the respondents to open three more dispensaries under the CGHS Scheme in Jabalpur for Defence Department Pensioners. The petitioner is the President of Defence Civilian Pensioners Federation and also a Social Worker and Advocate.

It was submitted by the petitioner that in the said department, there are more than one lakh pensioners/patients and the dispensary is situated in Lekha Nagar Cantt. Only two doctors are available to look after a number of patients, it added.

The ASG informed the Court that the petitioner has already submitted a representation and the said representation of the petitioner shall be considered and decided by the competent authority, which is the Director General, Central Government Health Services, New Delhi, in accordance with law.
