The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the horrific Hathras gang rape case and the issue of the UP Police not handing the body of the victim to the family and cremating it forcefully at 2 am instead.

Following massive public outrage over the gang-rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, the state’s Chief Minister, Yogi Aditynath today announced a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the incident and report back in 7 days.
