The Supreme Court on Tuesday proposed that the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been engaged in a prolonged legal battle so the best way is a supervisory committee on the Mullaperiyar dam which could be authorised with all the duties falling under the purview of the newly introduced Dam Safety Act until a new authority comes into force
The Kerala government recently proposed a transportation project called “SilverLine Rail Project” that connects south and north Kerala. The project is also called “semi high-speed rail project” with an operating speed of 200 kmph. The rail is designed in “standard gauge” technology and will act as a standalone track.
Today the three judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Khanwilkar resumed the hearing of the Mullaperiyar Dam matter the safety of which is the bone of contention between State of Tamil Nadu and State of Kerala. Sr. Adv., Mr. Jaideep Gupta appearing on behalf of the Respondent- State of Kerala had summarized the background of the matter yesterday while also laying down certain contentions.
