The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing of a batch of pleas seeking CBI and NIA probe into the investigation of the Palghar lynching case alleging bias in the present investigation by Maharashtra authorities.
The facts of the case is that , in 2012 the CBI had seized gold alleging that Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC) officials in Chennai had shown an unfairly supportive attitude towards Surana Corporation Limited, which stemmed from gold and silver imports.
A three- Judge Bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Indira Banerjee set aside order of the Delhi High Court stating that the High Court should not have entertained interim bail plea of social activist Gautam Navlakha in Bhima Koregaon.
The Single-Judge Bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Tewari, after hearing the submission from the respective parties on Friday, disposed of the plea with liberty to the woman to make an application for a grant of fresh license for a petty diesel retail outlet.
In such circumstances, the bench failed to appreciate as to how the plan/map submitted by the petitioners for reconstruction/carrying out major repair work of the building for commercial purpose could have been rejected.
