The Supreme Court today dismissed a plea seeking directions to set up a commission for enquiring into the custodial/encounter killing of wanted criminal Rakesh Pandey in Lucknow on August 9.

The killing of gangster Rakesh Pandey once again turns the spotlight on the police taking the law into its own hands during encounters, ignoring the guidelines laid down by the apex court for investigating such cases.

A plea has been filed in SC seeking issuance of specific directions in custodial killing/ encounter of accused Rakesh Pandey yesterday and for the registration of FIR under Sections 302, 201, 120-B, 193 of the Indian Penal Code against the police officials involved in custodial killing/alleged encounter.
