Sale of Goods Act

Supreme Court while hearing a petition filed by Hyundai  Motor  India Limited observed that the failure to provide an airbag system which would meet the safety standards as perceived by a car­buyer of reasonable prudence should be subject to punitive damages which can have deterrent effect.

Sale of Goods Act 1930 was introduced with the objective of balancing the rights, duties, claims and expectations arising within the strategy of transferring of property from one individual to a different i.e of patrons and sellers.
