Mathura Court orders survey of Krishna Janamsthan-Shahi Idgah, directs Amin to submit report on April 17

Court in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh has once again directed the Civil Court officer(Amin) to visit and survey the Sri Krishna Janmasthan-Shahi Idgah dispute case. It has instructed the Amin to submit an aakhya report (along with maps) before the Court on April 17.

The similar order was passed in December last year by Civil Judge III Sonika Verm who had directed the Civil Court Amin report by Jan 20.

The order was passed while adjudicating a plea which was moved by Vishnu Gupta, National President of Hindu Sena (through Advocate Shailesh Dube) in a suit filed by him seeking possession of the Shahi Idgah premises and demolition of the present structure situated there.

The Shahi Idgah Mosque Committee had moved an application, which objected to the Court’s order for a ‘survey’ of the mosque premises, the Court, in January this year, directed to maintain status quo.

Another application was moved by Gupta this year wherein it was argued that there was no stay on the order of the Court, hence, the Court restored its earlier order to present survey report.

The plaintiff Vishnu Gupta has challenged the ownership of 13.77-acre land on which the Idgah is built.

AS per the suit, the Idgah was constructed by Aurangzeb on the 13.37 acres of Shri Krishna’s birthplace after demolishing the Sri Krishna temple.

Keeping this in mind, the suit seeks the cancellation of the agreement between Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh and Shahi Idgah which was executed in the year 1968, calling it illegal.

It is essential to know this suit is one of the many suits which have been filed before the Court demanding the demolition of the 17th-century Shahi Idgah Masjid claiming the same to be built on Krishna Janambhumi’s property.
