SC tells Centre to deposit Rs 10 lakh for assistance to the committee formed for making exams foolproof

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Centre to deposit a sum of Rs 10 lakh for travel, stay and for assistance in preparation of report to the committee members examining the paper leak issue as per direction of it.

The Court had earlier directed Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to declare 2017 result for recruitment in Central Govt jobs.

Consequently, the court had also constituted 7-member committee headed by retired SC judge GS Singhvi and comprising former Infosys chairman Nandan Nilekani and IT expert Vijay Bhatkar to suggest measures to make conduct of entrance exams for jobs and admission in educational institutions foolproof.

A bench comprising Justices SA Bobde and BR Gavai was hearing a plea seeking investigation into the 2017 SSC examination papers leak.

In its August 31, 2018 order, the Supreme Court had stayed the 2017 results after finding the examination tainted.
