In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, 2004 IFS batch officer Vivek Kumar has been appointed Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kumar was earlier serving as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

Kumar’s appointment will come into effect from the day of the assumption of charge and his tenure will be on co-terminus basis or under further orders, whichever is earlier, the official order said.

There was another rejig in the President house. Bharat Lal, who was previously serving as   Additional Secretary to the President, will now serve as the Additional Secretary in the Jal Shakti Ministry.

Lal is a 1988-batch Indian Forest Service officer of the Gujarat cadre.
