Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai of the Gujarat High Court administers oath to new Additional Judges of court

The Acting Chief Justice AJ Desai of the Gujarat High Court has administered oath to the newly appointed additional judges of the Gujarat High.

The appointment of five judicial officers as additional judges of the Gujarat High Court was been cleared by the Central government few days back.

The newly appointed Additional judges are:

  • Susan Valentine Pinto;
  • Hasmukhbhai Dalsukhbhai Suthar;
  • Jitendra Champaklal Doshi;
  • Mangesh Rameshchandra Mengdey; and
  • Divyeshkumar Amrutlal Joshi.

The appointment was made after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the same on March 2, 2023.

The Supreme Court Collegium passed the resolution stating that the Gujarat High Court Collegium comprising of the then Chief Justice and two senior-most Judges unanimously made the recommendation on September 26, 2022.

The resolution mentions that the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Gujarat had also concurred with the recommendations.

As on March 1, 2023, the Gujarat High Court is functioning with 24 judges against the working strength of 52, a vacancy position of 28.
