Allahabad High Court issues showcause notice to Uttar Pradesh Bar Council Prayagraj on use of Emblem of Justice, Gavel by lawyer on folio

The Allahabad High Court has issued a showcause notice to the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, Prayagraj to showcause as to how a lawyer managed to use an Advocate Band, Gavel and Emblem of Justice on the folio to obtain certified copy of an order.

The Division Bench of Justice Surya Prakash Kesarwani and Jayant Banerji passed this order, while hearing an Appeal under Section 37 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 Defective filed by Shabnam Zaheer.

The Folio for applying certified copy of the order dated March 25, 2022 passed by the District Judge, Ghaziabad bears photo of Advocate Band, Gavel, Emblem of justice and the name of Sanjay K Singh, Advocate, his Enrollment No and his chamber address. The lawyer is based in Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad.

Amrendera Nath Singh, Senior Advocate and eminent member of Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, was present and the Court requested him to assist on the aforesaid issue.

“Let notice be issued to the Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Bar Council, Prayagraj to showcause as to how the aforesaid Advocate Band, Gavel and Emblem of justice are used by Advocates on folio to obtain certified copy of orders”, the order read.

The Court fixed August 16 as the next hearing.
