Allahabad High Court reserves verdict on Azam Khan bail, decision to be pronounced next week

The Allahabad High Court on Saturday reserved the bail order of Samajwadi Party MP Azam Khan who has been in Sitapur jail in connection with alleged money laundering cases and document forgery cases.

After hearing the arguments of Khan’s lawyers and public prosecutor, the bench of Justice Rahul Chaturvedi has reserved the decision. The court will give its decision in this matter next week.

Even if the Rampur MP gets relief from the Allahabad High Court, he will still remain behind bars in Sitapur Jail because he is accused in many other cases which are non-bailable offences.

Khan’s lawyers called these allegations baseless and told the court that he has been implicated for political reasons unnecessarily. During the hearing, the Uttar Pradesh government said Khan has illegally occupied, captured land including the property of Ali Jauhar University.

In this case, the bail application of the SP MP has been rejected by the subordinate court, after which a bail application was filed on his behalf in the Allahabad High Court. Azam Khan is accused of occupying land in 2019 and a case has been registered against him.
