Delhi HC tells Delhi govt to fill-up teachers’ vacancies on urgent basis in govt blind school

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed the Delhi government to complete the process of recruitment of teachers in Government Senior Secondary School for Boys (Blind) in Kingsway Camp as per the timeline given in their affidavit.

The court also sought details pertaining to the sanctioned strength of the teachers and other staff in the school.

The bench comprising of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V Kameswar Rao further told the government to apprise it about the number of vacancies available and the timeline for the recruitment. And in case of non-appointment, the same has to be stated in an affidavit, the bench said.

“For the assistive devices, they shall be provided till January 15 and a report shall be submitted for the same. In case of budgetary constraint, the department concerned shall be intimated to provide the budget. The work of renovation of building also to be completed on top priority in the timeline given,” the bench said.

The bench adjourned the matter to January 18.

The court was hearing a plea raising concern over the weak teaching strength of the Government Senior Secondary School for Boys (Blind) in North Delhi’s Kingsway Camp. The plea also said that the hostel facilities in the school were in the dilapidated state. It also said the school was functioning without a principal for over two years and the repair of the building was taking time.
