Delhi Police permits holding of All India Muslim Mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan on Dec 18

The plea for holding All India Muslim Mahapanchayat at the Ramlila Maidan by the Mission Save Constitution was closed by the Delhi High Court on Friday after the police clearly stated that permission could be given for the program on certain condition pertaining security.

Justice Subramonium Prasad while disposing off the petition said after the submission by the Police, no other department will raise any objection to the event or to the availability of the venue on the designated date.

Last week, the court asked the Delhi Police to decide by November 29 the plea moved by Mission Save Constitution.

The court said that the petitioner organisation will have to give the list of speakers at the event to the Delhi Police and listed the case for further hearing…

The court also added that if no decision  is been taken to reject the application then  Court  will proceed ahead based on the judgment of the Supreme Court.

Last week, the court has questioned the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and  Delhi Police for considering whether it was ok to hold the meeting.

The judge informed the authorities to treat, as a representation and permit the December 18 meeting.

The court said that it was not going in the brewed controversy on whether the Maha Tyagi Seva Sansthan should have first approached the MCD and then the Police Authorities or as to whether the Petitioner herein should have first approached the Police Authorities and then the MCD.

The court had requested the MCD and the police authorities counsel for giving those dates on which no function is scheduled to be organised at Ramlila Ground, Delhi.

The court sought the response of the Centre, Delhi Police, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on a plea seeking permission to hold a public meeting (All India Muslim Mahapanchayat) of around 10,000 people at Ramlila Ground
