Madhya Pradesh High Court disposes of PIL for wide bridges in Katni

A direction has further been prayed to the respondents to provide well-maintained public roads to all the citizens of Katyaghat Road, Katni. A direction is further sought to provide well-maintained roads, well regulated traffics, free from "Traffic Jams" to all the citizens residing in and around Katyaghat Road Katni.

The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently disposed of a PIL seeking direction to the respondents to provide adequate wide bridge conforming to all safety and standards as provided in law.

The PIL has been filed by Shyam Sundar Sharma and others seeking direction to the respondents to provide adequate wide bridge conforming all safety and standards as provided in law to provide well-maintained regulated heavy traffic, funds sanctioned by the Government for the same and submit report regarding the technical details of small, narrow bridge.

A direction has further been prayed to the respondents to provide well-maintained public roads to all the citizens of Katyaghat Road, Katni. A direction is further sought to provide well-maintained roads, well regulated traffics, free from “Traffic Jams” to all the citizens residing in and around Katyaghat Road Katni.

The PIL  was filed in 2013. The respondents have filed their reply and stated that the roads have already been constructed. The Jabalpur Division Bench of Chief Justice Mohammad Rafiq and Justice Vijay Kumar Shukla observed that so far as grievance of the petitioners in regard to maintenance of the roads is concerned, “in case if the grievance of the petitioners still subsists, they may approach the respondents in regard to their grievance for proper maintenance of the roads in question,” the order reads.
