Chhattisgarh HC seeks response from Collector, officials on sale of plots in Doma village near Raipur

The petitioner states that he had made complaints to the Collector, SDM and Director of Town and Country Planning, but no action is being taken due to collusion of officials in illegal plotting, alleged the petitioner.

A PIL has been filed in the Chhattisgarh High Court on the issue of illegal plotting and selling of land in and around Doma village adjoining Raipur.

The PIL has been filed by Arvind Singh, a local resident, through his lawyer Badrasdin Khan. According to the PIL, the village Doma and the gram panchayats nearby are connected to Raipur city. Colonies are being developed by cutting arable land into small pieces.

In the PIL, it was claimed that permission from the Town and Country Planning department is necessary to develop a new colony. Similarly, for colonization, it is also necessary to follow the Colonizer Act. Under this, basic facilities like electricity, water, drain are also necessary to build a new colony.

The petitioner states that he had made complaints to the Collector, SDM and Director of Town and Country Planning, but no action is being taken due to collusion of officials in illegal plotting, alleged the petitioner.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon and Justice P.P. Sahu after the preliminary hearing, issued notice to the Raipur Collector, SDM and the Director of Town and Country Planning and sought their reply.
