Rajasthan HC Chief Justice suspends district judge for sexual assault of 14-year-old boy

A Rajasthan district judge was suspended on Sunday following a case registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO Act) for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy.

Chief Justice Akil Kureshi of the Rajasthan High Court placed the district judge, Jitendra Singh, under suspension with immediate effect pending preliminary and contemplated departmental inquiry. Jitendra Singh, special judge of the Special Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Bharatpur, will be paid subsistence allowance as per rules (Rajasthan Civil Service (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958.

During his suspension period, his headquarters will be at district and session judge, Jaipur Metropolitan- Jaipur. “Honorable Chief Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by a rule 13 of the Rajasthan Civil Service (Classification, Control and Appeal) rules, 1958 read with Full Court Resolution dated October 30, 1971 here by places Shri Jitendra Singh an officer of District Judge Cadre presently posted as Special Judge, Special Court, Prevention Of Corruption Act, Bharatpur  under suspension with immediate effect pending preliminary enquiry and contemplated departmental enquiry. During the period of suspension, Shri Jitendra Singh, special Judge, special court, prevention of corruption act Bharatpur shall be paid subsistence allowance as per rules, and his headquarters during the period of suspension will be at District and Sessions Judge, Jaipur Metropolitan-1, Jaipur,” reads the order released on October 31 by the Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.
