Shraddha Walkar case: Saket court extends police custody of Aftab Amin Poonawala by 5 days

The Saket District Court of Delhi has extended the police custody of Aftab Amin Poonawala by five days in Shraddha Walkar case.

Police submitted in the Saket court that the accused Aftab is to be taken to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for investigation.

The court also allowed the police application seeking permission for the Narco analysis test of accused Aftab.

A Delhi court had permitted the police for producing the killer Aaftab Amin Poonawala before a court through video conferencing.

The Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla told that the police had submitted an application that the accused faces threats from miscreants and religious groups.

The Magistrate said that he was aware of the sensitivity of the matter, media coverage and the Public traction…but this had to be allowed.

Poonawala was produced before the court through video conferencing at 4 pm.

The 28-year-old Poonawala allegedly strangled Shradha Walkar and cut her body into 35 pieces which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his residence in South Delhi’s Mehrauli after which he dumped the body across the city over several days past midnight.

Aaftab Amin Poonawala in the confession has told that after chopping the body of Shraddha, he burnt her face to conceal her identity. He also confessed that he had searched on the internet for ways to dispose of a body after murder.

Police said the couple used to have frequent arguments over financial issues and it is suspected that there was also a fight between them that resulted in Poonawala killing 27-year-old Walkar on the evening of May 18.
