CBI moves SC against anticipatory bail to former Kerala DGP Siby Mathews, likely to be heard on July 27

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court against the anticipatory bail granted to former state DGP Siby Mathews by the Kerala High Court in the case related to framing of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in an espionage case of 1994.

The Bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar tagged this fresh appeal along with the pending appeals filed by CBI, challenging the anticipatory bails granted by the Kerala High Court to four other accused police/IB officials.

The matter is likely to be heard on July 27.

The investigating agency has also challenged the anticipatory bail granted by the High Court to S Vijayan, Thampi S Durgadutt and former intelligence bureau officials R B Sreekumar and S Jayaprakash. The appeal is pending before the Apex Court. The Supreme Court tagged the petition challenging the anticipatory bail granted to Siby Mathews with other similar petitions filed by CBI in the espionage case.
