CJI Gogoi Brushes Aside Requests For Time For Ayodhya Hearing , Says “Enough is Enough”

“Enough is enough”, the chief justice of India Ranjan Gogoi firmly said on Wednesday while brushing aside requests from a lawyer who wanted more time for arguments in the contentious Ayodhya issue.

The daily hearings in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid started its penultimate day on Wednesday and the arguments will end at 5 pm, CJI Gogoi said. It is learnt that the Ayodhya mediation panel is likely to file its report on the second round of mediation to the court today. Tomorrow Thursday is the last day of hearing and the constitution bench is expected to give its verdict on the, matter before the CJI Gogoi lays down office on November 17.

Today is the 40 day of hearing for the bench on the Ayodhya matter. The bench is hearing 14 appeals filed in the top court against the 2010 Allahabad high court judgment delivered in four civil suits. The top court had earlier this year explored the possibility of mediation to resolve the long-pending dispute amicably. A three-member panel led by retired judge justice FM Ibrahim Kalifulla and comprising Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior advocate Sriram Panchu tried to work out a resolution but failed. The Constitution bench subsequently held daily hearings from August.
