Delhi Riots: Delhi High Court reserves order on bail plea of United Against Hate founder Abdul Khalid Saifi

The Delhi High Court on Monday reserved orders on the bail plea of United Against Hate (UAH) founder Abdul Khalid Saifi, who is an accused in the Delhi Riots conspiracy case.

A Division Bench of Justice Siddharth Mridul and Justice Rajnish Bhatnagar after hearing the case by Senior Advocate Rebecca John for Saifi and Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad for the Delhi Police have reserved their order after hearing

On April 8, a special court denied bail to Saifi , holding that the allegations against Saifi were prima facie true.

The Delhi Police arrested Saifi on February 2020, soon after the Delhi Riots which led to death of more than 50 people.

The charge on Saifi were under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was also charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), after the police alleged that he was co-conspirators like Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.

Saifi was also alleged of using the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the national capital as a front.
