PIL filed challenging constitution validity of the Agnipath scheme

The Supreme Court of India has received a public interest litigation (PIL) petition challenging the constitutional validity of the proposed scheme named Agnipath to induct youth into the army for four years.

The plea mentioned that as per the Agniveer scheme which is for a period of 4 years only 25 percent candidates  will be continue in Indian Army while the left would be retired /denied job in the armed forces.

During 4 year they will be paid salary and perk but after 4 years denied candidate will get no pension etc.”

The scheme was not welcomed by the country and a large scale protest has been taking place in the different part of India showing discontent

The surprising aspect is that the  scheme was put before the country without the parliamentary approval and without gazettee notification.

It has been imposed upon the country without the approval of the parliament and without gazette notification, Sharma submitted.
