Real Shiv Sena: Supreme Court likely to hear rival claims tomorrow

The Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court may take up the petitions regarding the rift within the Shiv Sena party and the related political developments, which took place in Maharashtra in the months of June and July.

The matter was mentioned before a Bench led by Chief Justice UU Lalit by Senior Advocate Neeraj Kishan Kaul, representing the Eknath Shinde group.

Stating that the proceedings before the Election Commission to determine the real Shiv Sena have been stalled, Kaul requested urgent hearing in the matter.

When the CJI said that the cases were referred to a Constitution Bench by a three-Judge bench on August 24, the Senior Advocate replied that though the three-judge bench stated that the matter will be listed before a Constitution Bench on August 25, it never got listed.

Citing the upcoming local body polls, Kaul requested the Apex Court to list the matter for urgent hearing.

The CJI then held a brief discussion with Justice Ravindra Bhat, the other Judge of the Bench, and told the lawyer that by by tomorrow, “something will certainly be there”.
