Today, the Supreme Court has sought a response from the Center on the petition of RJD leader Sharad Yadav. Sharad has reached the Supreme Court against the order to vacate the government bungalow in Delhi. On March 15, the Delhi High Court ordered him to vacate the bungalow in 15 days.

Sharad Yadav, who was elected MP from JDU, was disqualified from Rajya Sabha membership in 2017 itself for anti-party activities. Since then, with the help of an interim order of the Sharad Yadav High Court, the bungalows for the Union ministers have been frozen at 7, Tughlaq Road. The High Court has now withdrawn that order.

Sharad, who reached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court, has argued that his petition against being expelled from the Rajya Sabha is still pending in the High Court. The hearing on this is on April 25. His term ends in July. Till then they should not be evicted from the house.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Sharad, cited his ill health. Sibal said, “His health is very bad. Dialysis is done every 7 days. Had to stay on a ventilator for 22 days due to Kovid.

Opposing the petition, Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain said, “Sharad Yadav is making excuses to somehow retain possession of the government bungalow. He publicly suspended the RJD membership program to remain in the bungalow.” It was immediately merged with RJD as soon as the High Court order came. There is a problem in providing accommodation to the Union Ministers. This bungalow has been allotted to Minister Pashupati Nath Paras. But Sharad Yadav is not vacating it.”

On this, a bench of Supreme Court Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant said that Sharad Yadav has cited poor health.

The court will only look at this aspect on humanitarian grounds. The counsel of the Center should inform the court by taking instructions on this. The judges also asked Sharad’s lawyer Kapil Sibal to tell on what date he will vacate the house. The hearing will take place on April 06.
