Supreme Court dismisses petition seeking audit of Delhi govt’s expenses on advertisements

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by a Delhi resident, telling her to approach the Delhi High Court regarding directions for investigation into the Delhi Government’s expenditure on advertisements.

The bench of Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice A.S. Bopanna said the issue could be dealt with by the High Court, since it was more competitive to deal with such matters.

During arguments, the bench asked if the petitioner was primarily questioning the advertising expenditure incurred by the Delhi Government.

“The High Court can deal with this why should we hear your matter, we should not interfere in this,” the bench said.

Giving liberty to the petitioner to move the High Court, the Supreme Court said it would not like to interfere in the matter and disposed of the plea.
