The Supreme Court on Tuesday deferred the hearing of the plea seeking immediate floor test in Karnataka assembly to tomorrow.

At today’s hearing, a bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi was told by Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi representing Karnataka Speaker K R Ramesh Kumar that he was hopeful that the floor test could be concluded by the end of the day.

The bench was hearing a plea filed by two independent Karnataka legislators, H Nagesh and R Shankar seeking court’s directions to quickly undertake the trust vote in the state Assembly.

The petitioners said in the plea that they had withdrawn the support from the ruling government.

Karnataka is in political turmoil after several JD-S and Congress MLAs resigned from the assembly to topple the government headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
