The Supreme Court on Wednesday (February 21) rejected KM Ashokan, Hadiya’s father’s plea requesting to adjourn the scheduled hearing of the matter. The apex court will now hear Hadiya’s case tomorrow as per the schedule.

Ashokan, in his PIL, had requested Chief Justice Dipak Misra to adjourn the hearing as he needed more time for filing a reply to the affidavit that was submitted by Hadiya before the court stating that she had embraced Islam and married Shafin Jahan out of her “own free will”.
