PIL challenging Amitabh Bachchan’s Covid caller tune withdrawn as Centre introduces new tune

A division bench of Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh while hearing the plea through video conferencing noted that the petition has become infructuous.

The Delhi High Court on Monday disposed of a public interest litigation on the request of the petitioner to withdraw the same seeking direction to the Central Government to remove the caller tune of Amitabh Bachchan warning of coronavirus from the mobile phone in the interest of justice.

A division bench of Chief Justice D.N. Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh noted that the petition has become infructuous. The petition has been filed by Rakesh through Advocate Arvind Kumar Dubey alleging that the Central Government has not engaged a correct man for the purpose of awareness of the precaution during the coronavirus pandemic.

The plea stated that the famous corona warriors are still ready to give their services without any payment and they are ready to serve the nation with the great welfare service, whereas, Bachchan is not having a clean history as well as he is not serving the nation being a social worker.

“That Amitabh Bachchan is not suitable person for such service in the name of nation while charging amount for the same,” the plea added.
