AORs Appointments To HCs Will Enhance The Quality of Judges, SCAORA President to CJI

Mr. Shivaji M. Jadhav, President, Supreme Court Advocate-On-Record Association (SCAORA) has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India to issue directions to the High Courts to consider AORs/ Advocates practicing at the Supreme Court for their elevation to the different High Courts as Judges.

Mr. Shivaji said that currently, the process for elevation to the various High Courts is under process, but unfortunately, some of the High Courts are not considering the Advocates-on-Record/ Advocates practicing at the Supreme Court for elevation to the High Court solely on the basis that they are practicing in the Supreme Court of India and not in their High Court.

He also contended that previously in many High Court the Advocates-on-Record and the Advocates practicing at Supreme Court have been considered and elevated to the Benches of different High Courts.

Mr. Shivaji further added that “The Advocates-on-Record has a unique advantage of having knowledge and working of matters before the High Court and the Supreme Court and also of appearing before the senior-most and best judges of the Country.”

The letter has been written to CJI considering the fact that most of the High Courts are having unfilled vacancies and not working with the full sanctioned strength.

The experience and knowledge of the AORs will help both the bar and the Bench before the respective High Courts.
