Ramakant Sharma, the chairman of the Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh (BCHM), has succumbed to Covid-19. Sharma was designated Senior Advocate by the Himachal Pradesh High Court on August 4, 2015.
Sharma, the son of Munshi Ram Sharma, was elected as member of the BCHM for the first time on August 27, 2000. Subsequently, he was elected as a member of the council for the second time in the election held in the month of December, 2005 and was unanimously elected Chairman, BCHM for the first time from 12.01.2006 to 01.03.2008. He was once again elected Chairman, Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh for the second time from 02.03.2008 to 12.09.2009.
He was once again elected for the third time as Member Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh in the election held in June, 2011. Thereafter, for the fourth time he is elected as Member, Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh for a further period of five years in the State Bar Council Election, 2018 and has been unanimously elected for the third time as Chairman, Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh w.e.f. August 7, 2018.
