SCBA Vice President Pradeep Rai hails CJI Ramana’s statement for 50% women’s reservation in judiciary

The Senior Advocate also thanked the CJI for the Collegium's appointment of ensuring 4 lady judges in the Supreme Court.

Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, the Vice President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), has welcomed Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana’s statement exhorting women advocates to push for 50% reservation in all levels of the judiciary.

Rai said he also welcomed the CJI’s statement that women should asked for this as a right and not as charity and raise their voices to demand for it.

On Sunday, CJI Ramana was speaking at a felicitation event organized by women lawyers to honour him and the other judges of the Supreme Court.

SCBA Vice President Pradeep Rai also said that the CJI’s statement is very positive and it is in a good spirit but it should be implemented properly so that lady members should not be deprived from the High Courts and in Supreme Court to become a part of the bench.
