Missing BHU student: police searching with ‘great enthusiasm’, ASP tells Allahabad High Court

New Delhi (ILNS): In the compliance of the Allahabad High Court‘s previous order, the ASP of Varanasi appeared before the Court in the case of Shiv Kumar Trivedi, a missing student of Banaras Hindu University. He told the court that the Police was searching for the missing student with “great enthusiasm” and requested for some more time.

The Court took a tough stand and said that if the Police could not find the student then the investigation would be handed over to the independent agency. The order was given by a division bench of Justice Pritinkar Diwakar and Justice Deepak Verma on a PIL filed by Advocate Saurabh Tiwari.

The BHU student went missing from the police station a few months ago. The Court, while allowing time, sought an affidavit from the ASP with information about the steps taken in the search. The petition is now directed to be presented for hearing on November 4.

Shiv Kumar, 24, studying in the second year of BSc at Banaras Hindu University, has been missing from February 13, 2020, the date on which he was last seen at Lanka Police station, where the police had brought him. Thereafter, he mysteriously disappeared from the police station. Several months have passed and there has been no trace of the student. The family lodged a missing person case on February 16, 2020.
