Police constable posted at Delhi High Court commits suicide at court premises

A police constable of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary, who was posted near Gate number of Delhi High Court, on Wednesday committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle.

According to Delhi Police, the constable was a resident of Kotkasim in Alwar and said to be around 30 years of age. He had joined duty at around 9.30 am, after coming back from leave. Further investigation was underway, it added.

Yesterday, Justice Rekha Palli had issued notice on a plea seeking directions on Delhi Police and Bar Council of Delhi for taking measures to ensure safety and security of Delhi district courts, in the wake of Rohini shootout incident.

On September 24, four persons were shot dead, including wanted gangster Jitendra alias Gogi, in a Rohini court by attackers wearing black gowns. The attackers are believed to be from the rival Tillu Tajpuria gang. Around 35-40 rounds were fired in the exchange in courtroom 207.

The incident happened in Rohini Court number 2 when Gogi was presented before the judge. Special Judge Gagandeep Singh has been hospitalised for low blood pressure shortly after.
